The fifth Escape covered the Rann of Kutch area around Bhuj, Gujarat.
This EscapeRoute too the drivers through the salt plains of Little Rann of Kutch, Banni scrublands of Great Rann, White Rann, lands end at Narayan Sarovar and virgin beaches of Mandvi.
With alternate camp out and resort stays the group enjoyed not only beauty of this unique region but also interacted with local craftsmen and took appreciation lessons.
The amazingly maintained roads of Gujarat made quick work of the vast distances to be covered. All wheel drive vehicle ensured that the group was able to go deep in to Rann areas without having to worry about boggy conditions. Visit to the salt pans and scrub lands yielded views of some exotic birds and animals. Some short You-Tube videos from the trip are here:
The map on right shows some of the towns visited but cannot show the actual routes taken as many of the places visited were linked by the team using off road trails that do not show up on the maps. These traverses also gave the participants views that are just not visible to the normal tourist.
